2022 Workshop

The 2022 workshop took place on June 25th at the Wingate Hotel in Indianapolis Indiana. It turned out to be a really good time but just wasn’t the same without John Stevens. He is greatly missed. I updated the presentation with a brief tribute.

2022 Workshop Presentation

Before the workshop I was contacted by the son of a former employee, Rich John. His father Gunter John was the Manager of Videodisc Manufacturing, he helped create and operate the Elctron-beam Recording Lathe that cut the copper substrates. It’s safe to say that without Gunter John videodisc would have never been.

It was quite the haul. John’s van was full, as was my car.
To the hotel! You know it’s gunna be a good day when this board says CED on it!
It’s always a frenzie when there are good discs to be had. Thanks Chris, for managing the herd.

The aftermath is never a pretty sight, this player gave it’s life so that many other players could live. Thank you for your sacrifice SFT100.
And no workshop is complete with out some Root Beer and junk food!
So happy to add these amazing discs to my collection. Museum pieces for sure.
Japan Columbia Demo disc, first one ever found.
INS Forms Demo disc, it’s existence was never even known.
The 1983 Video Communications disc sent to RCA dealers to learn about new product.
The VidMark Hawaii & Southern California Sun Vacations Disc, only sent to travel agencies. Very few still exist today.
My haul from the Gunter John collection. So proud to own all of this. Thank you Rich.
