Jeff Gold Variations

Jeff Gold worked in Recording Operations under the direction of Gunter John at the Rockville Road Videodisc Pressing Plant.

Jeff passed away in April 2004 and I was contacted by his brother Randall in May. Randall was in the process of clearing out Jeff’s items and contacted me about the CED collection. I was informed he had been dealing with another gentleman who did cleanouts, who came and took half the collection and various other items. Randall was not happy about this and moved the rest of Jeff’s collection to his residence in New Lisbon. I worked out a deal with Randall to purchase the collection. Then I contacted the gentleman who did the cleanout and worked out a deal with him to purchase the majority of the collection he got, although he wanted to keep quite a bit of it. Some of it he sold or traded to others, and some he kept. I was able to meet up with him and Russell before the 2024 workshop and pick up all the discs and reunite them at the workshop. I held onto anything I felt was rare, including variations on different color caddies I had never seen before. These mostly appear to be one-offs that Jeff had glued the labels on himself, or they were mistakes from the production floor that he grabbed. Since they are probably the only color variation of their kind I will list them on this page separately from the Variations Page.
